limited edition print terms and conditions

Terms and Conditions of artist's proof, limited edition and open print sales

0. Definitions

0.1 These terms apply to every individually produced, personally inspected, signed and numbered photographic fine art print supplied by us, including Artist's Proofs and Limited Editions, whether supplied rolled or with a bespoke frame, mount, glazing, certificate and related presentation materials (each a “Product”).

0.2 The seller is Paul Reiffer, trading as Paul Reiffer Photography (“we”, “us” or “our”). The purchaser is referred to as “you”, “your” or "customer".

0.3 A “Consumer” is an individual acting wholly or mainly outside their trade, business, craft or profession. A “Business Customer” is anyone purchasing wholly or mainly for business purposes. You must tell us before ordering if you are a Business Customer.

0.4 Every Product is bespoke. Its image, dimensions, crop or presentation and supply format are selected or approved for you before it is individually produced, personally inspected, signed and numbered rather than supplied from finished stock. For a framed Product, the mount, frame profile, material, finish, glazing and other presentation details are also designed and approved for you before manufacture.

0.5 The contract comprises our written Order Confirmation, the final written Product specification, these terms and any document expressly incorporated by reference (the “Contract”). If they conflict, they apply in that order.

0.6 By placing an order, you confirm that you have read and accepted these terms. Nothing in the Contract limits any right or remedy which applicable law does not permit us to limit.

1. Edition Types

1.1 An “Artist's Proof” is a fine art print from a separate Artist's Proof edition limited to a maximum of five copies worldwide across all physical sizes, unless the Product description expressly states otherwise. It is signed and marked with its edition designation and number and, where stated, supplied with matching serialised authenticity materials and registry entry.

1.2 A “Limited Edition” is a fine art print from an edition limited to a maximum of 100 copies worldwide across all physical sizes, unless the Product description expressly states otherwise. It is inspected, signed and marked with its edition designation and number.

1.3 Edition numbers are allocated by us. No particular number, sequence or relative position within an edition is promised unless expressly confirmed in the Order Confirmation.

1.4 Variants expressly identified as separate editions, including Artist's Proofs, may exist alongside a Limited Edition. Studio proofs, printer's proofs, archive proofs and replacement copies used for production control, exhibition, replacement or record purposes do not increase the numbered edition offered for sale.

1.5 If a signed or numbered Product is replaced, the original must first be returned to us or destroyed to our reasonable satisfaction. Any replacement will carry the same number where practicable or will be permanently recorded as a replacement. We may update the relevant authenticity record.

1.6 Edition size, signature and provenance describe the Product supplied. We make no promise about future rarity, market value, valuation, resale price, liquidity or investment performance.

2. Customer Responsibilities

2.1 You are responsible for checking the image, edition, print dimensions, crop, orientation, rolled or framed supply format and delivery details before submitting the order, together with overall framed dimensions, materials, finish, glazing and mounting where framing is included.

2.2 The Product will not enter final production until you have approved its written specification. Your approval is conclusive for dimensions, image, crop, orientation and supply format, together with mount, frame design, finish and glazing where applicable, except for an error introduced by us after approval.

2.3 You are responsible for providing accurate contact, billing, delivery, customs and recipient information and for notifying us promptly of any change. A requested change after acceptance is subject to production status, written agreement and payment of all additional cost.

2.4 You must confirm that the delivery route, doors, lifts, stairways and installation location can safely accommodate the packaged and finished Product. Special access, lifting, storage, installation or timed-delivery requirements must be agreed and paid for in advance.

2.5 For a rolled Product, you are responsible for competent unpacking, flattening, mounting and framing after delivery. For a framed Product, you are responsible for arranging suitable professional installation unless installation is expressly included in the Order Confirmation. Walls, fixings and building fabric must be assessed by a competent installer.

2.6 A remake required because of an inaccurate specification, measurement, address or instruction supplied or approved by you will be chargeable at the then-current price, together with delivery and other resulting costs.

2.7 If you do not respond to reasonable specification requests or approve a final design within 30 days, we may suspend the order. After giving a further written deadline, we may terminate it and deduct from any repayment the reasonable value of design work completed, non-recoverable commitments and other loss caused by the failure to proceed, to the extent permitted by law.

3. Ordering

3.1 An order submitted through www.paulreiffer.com, by telephone, email or quotation is an offer by you to purchase the specified Product.

3.2 A payment acknowledgement or automated website message does not itself accept the order. The Contract is formed when we issue a written Order Confirmation containing an order reference, after completing any necessary pricing, availability, specification and payment checks.

3.3 We may decline an order before acceptance, including because of suspected fraud, payment failure, territorial restriction, material unavailability, edition availability, manifest pricing error, unsafe delivery requirements or inability to produce the requested specification.

3.4 If we decline an order after taking payment but before acceptance, we will return the amount paid. That repayment is our entire responsibility for declining the unaccepted order, except where applicable law requires otherwise.

3.5 Website images, room mock-ups and digital previews are illustrative. Screens, browsers, ambient light and digital colour spaces vary. The finished Product may show reasonable differences in colour, brightness, crop, scale, texture, grain, gloss and reflectivity arising from physical production and display.

3.6 Natural wood, hand finishing and other craft materials vary in grain, tone, texture, joins and surface character. Reasonable variation consistent with the approved specification and samples is part of the Product and is not a defect.

4. Delivery

4.1 Standard production and delivery normally take six to eight weeks from the later of Order Confirmation, cleared payment and final specification approval. This is an estimate unless we expressly accept a fixed or essential date in writing.

4.2 We will notify you of a material delay and provide a revised estimate. Statutory rights concerning delivery within an agreed period or by an expressly essential deadline remain unaffected.

4.3 Delivery is made to the address in the Order Confirmation. For a Consumer, risk passes when the Product comes into the physical possession of you or a person you identified to receive it, except where you independently commissioned a carrier not offered by us. Risk for a Business Customer passes on delivery to the stated address or nominated carrier.

4.4 Title to the Product passes only after we have received all sums due in cleared funds. Passing of title does not transfer copyright or other intellectual-property rights.

4.5 You must ensure that an adult is available to receive and inspect the shipment. If delivery fails because of an incorrect address, restricted access, absence, refusal, failure to provide instructions or another matter within your control, you must pay reasonable redelivery, storage, return, insurance and handling costs.

4.6 Before signing where reasonably possible, inspect the package for puncture, crushing, water, tears, broken seals or other visible damage. Record visible damage on the carrier's delivery record and photograph every side of the package, shipping label, internal packaging and affected Product.

4.7 If severe external damage is apparent, you should refuse delivery where the carrier permits and notify us immediately. If delivery is accepted or concealed damage is discovered, preserve all packaging and notify us as soon as reasonably possible, preferably within 48 hours, with the photographs and information reasonably requested for investigation.

4.8 Prompt notification protects our ability to pursue the carrier. Failure to report within 48 hours does not remove a Consumer's statutory rights, but may affect a claim to the extent that delay prevents us from establishing the cause or recovering from the carrier.

4.9 Where transit damage is established, we may collect, repair or replace the affected Product as the appropriate remedy, subject to your mandatory rights. You must not discard, alter, frame, install or attempt to repair a damaged Product without our written agreement.

4.10 Minor frame-finish marks capable of appropriate local correction may be resolved by supplying a matching filler or repair product with instructions. This does not restrict statutory remedies where the Product fails to conform to the Contract.

5. Returns

5.1 Cancellation and change of mind

5.1.1 Every Product is individually made to your specifications and clearly personalised through its approved image, dimensions, crop or presentation, individual production, personal inspection, signature and edition number. A framed Product also incorporates its approved bespoke frame and presentation design. Under regulation 28 of the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013, the statutory change-of-mind cancellation right does not apply.

5.1.2 Once we accept the order, it cannot be cancelled, returned or exchanged because you change your mind, the Product no longer suits your room, you provided incorrect dimensions, or your decorative preferences or circumstances change.

5.1.3 We may consider a written request to change or stop an order before production is complete, but are not required to accept it. Any agreement may be conditional upon payment or retention of consultation and design work, materials, production, artist inspection, signing and associated travel, supplier, transaction, administration, delivery and lost-margin costs already incurred or committed, up to the full order value and subject to applicable law.

5.2 Faulty, damaged or misdescribed Products

5.2.1 Products must conform to the Contract and applicable law. Nothing in these terms excludes a Consumer's rights concerning satisfactory quality, fitness for a disclosed purpose, description, repair, replacement, price reduction or rejection.

5.2.2 Contact us promptly with the order reference, full photographs and a description of the issue. We may require inspection and will arrange return or collection where we are legally responsible.

5.2.3 Where the law permits a choice of remedy, we may repair or replace rather than refund if that remedy is possible, proportionate, provided within a reasonable time and does not cause significant inconvenience.

5.2.4 A Product is not faulty merely because of reasonable screen-to-print difference, an approved crop or specification, stated production tolerance, natural material variation, or a characteristic disclosed before purchase.

5.2.5 We are not responsible for damage caused after risk passes by mishandling, unsuitable storage, direct sunlight, moisture, temperature, pollutants, cleaning, adhesive, insects, accident, building movement, customer-arranged transport, self-framing, mounting, hanging, installation, alteration or failure to follow care instructions.

5.2.6 No replacement numbered print will be released until clause 1.6 has been satisfied. Returns must include the certificate and authenticity materials originally supplied.

6. Customs, Excise Duties, Tariffs & Import Taxes

6.1 Products may be produced or dispatched from the United Kingdom, the United States or another location stated in the Order Confirmation.

6.2 Unless the Order Confirmation expressly states that duties and taxes are included, international delivery is supplied on a delivery-at-place basis. You or the named recipient are responsible for import VAT, sales or use tax, customs duty, tariffs, brokerage, clearance, storage and local administration charges.

6.3 We will describe and value each shipment truthfully using the value and customs basis required by applicable law. We will not mark a commercial purchase as a gift or artificially reduce its declared value.

6.4 You are responsible for checking import restrictions, obtaining permits, supplying tax or identity information and paying sums demanded by authorities or carriers by their deadline. Customs processes may delay delivery and are outside our direct control.

6.5 If a shipment is refused, abandoned, destroyed, seized or returned because you or the recipient did not pay a charge, complete clearance, provide accurate information or accept delivery, this does not create a free cancellation right. To the extent permitted by law, we may deduct or recover outward and return freight, insurance, customs, duty, tax, storage, clearance, handling, restoration and remake costs, together with loss in value of a Bespoke or numbered Product.

6.6 Any remaining sum legally due after the Product is safely returned and assessed will be repaid. We may require payment of all outstanding costs before arranging redelivery.

7. Events Outside of Our Control

7.1 We are not responsible for delay or failure caused by circumstances beyond our reasonable control, including natural disaster, fire, flood, epidemic, war, terrorism, civil disorder, government or customs action, sanctions, border closure, industrial action, carrier disruption, material shortage, utility failure, supplier failure or interruption of communications or transport.

7.2 We may suspend production, extend estimated times, change carrier or production location, or substitute an equivalent archival material or component where the original is unavailable and the change does not materially reduce the Product's quality or character.

7.3 We will notify you of a material impact and take reasonable steps to resume performance. You must take reasonable steps to reduce avoidable loss.

7.4 Nothing in this section removes a Consumer's mandatory remedy where goods are not delivered within an agreed period, a legally essential deadline is missed, or delay otherwise gives rise to a non-excludable right.

8. Print Guarantee & Warranty

8.1 In addition to statutory rights, the printed image is covered for the lifetime of the original purchaser against material, visible colour fading or degradation caused by an inherent defect in the print materials or production.

8.2 The guarantee applies only where the Product has throughout its life been correctly handled and displayed indoors, outside direct sunlight, behind glazing removing at least 95% of ultraviolet light where glazing is appropriate, and away from moisture, condensation, pollutants, abnormal heat, cold and rapid environmental change.

8.3 The guarantee does not cover frames, mounts, substrates, glazing, acrylic, face-mounting, laminates, fixings, installation, signatures, certificates or holograms; normal ageing or wear; accidental or deliberate damage; cleaning; contact with liquids or organic material; mould, insects, smoke or pollutants; customer or third-party work; or failure to follow care instructions.

8.4 A claim must be submitted in writing with proof of purchase, certificate where supplied, photographs of the entire Product and its display environment, close photographs of the issue, and a description of its care and history. We may inspect the Product or obtain independent specialist evidence.

8.5 If we accept a guarantee claim, our obligation is limited to one replacement printed image of the same artwork and nominal size. Current equivalent paper, ink, process or finish may be used where the original is unavailable. The guarantee does not include reframing, remounting, installation, removal, consequential cost or a cash refund.

8.6 The original must be returned or destroyed under clause 1.6 before the replacement is released. We will pay reasonable standard delivery cost for an accepted UK claim; overseas delivery, duty, tax and installation remain the claimant's responsibility unless mandatory law requires otherwise.

8.7 The guarantee is personal to the original purchaser, except that a purchaser may transfer it once to the first named recipient where the Product was bought as a gift and the original proof of purchase and authenticity materials are retained.

8.8 This voluntary guarantee does not replace or reduce a Consumer's statutory rights.

9. Price of Prints & Delivery

9.1 The Product price is the price stated at checkout or in the accepted quotation. Delivery, installation, customs, duties and taxes are included only where expressly stated.

9.2 We may change prices at any time before acceptance. After Order Confirmation, the price will not change unless you request a change, supplied information was inaccurate, or an applicable tax or charge is expressly stated to remain variable.

9.3 Quotations expire on the date stated. Currency conversion and card-provider charges are determined by your payment provider and are your responsibility.

9.4 If a price, delivery charge or specification is affected by an obvious error, we may reject the order before acceptance. If an error is discovered after acceptance and enforcement at the erroneous price would be legally inappropriate, we will contact you and offer the lawful options, which may include paying the correct price or cancelling for repayment.

10. Print Formats

10.1 A rolled Product is supplied unframed in protective packaging, in the bespoke image, dimensions and presentation listed in the final specification. Framing, mounting, flattening and installation are not included.

10.2 A framed Product is supplied in the bespoke configuration listed in the final specification. Overall external dimensions include the agreed mount, border and frame and may differ substantially from the image dimensions.

10.3 Unless expressly stated as an exact finished dimension, paper, image, mount and frame measurements are subject to a reasonable production tolerance of up to plus or minus 2%.

10.4 Colour-critical assessment must be made from approved physical samples where we agree to provide them. Website previews and uncalibrated displays are not contract proofs.

10.5 Hand-finished solid wood and other natural materials may display variation in colour, grain, texture, joins and absorption of stain. Minor variations and locally correctable finish marks consistent with craftsmanship and the approved specification are not defects.

10.6 A rolled Product must be opened only with adequate clean space and competent handling. Installation is included only if expressly stated. Damage caused during customer or third-party unpacking, flattening, framing, mounting, handling, hanging, installation or later movement after risk has passed is your responsibility.

11. Copyright and Ownership

11.1 Purchase transfers ownership of the physical Product only. All copyright, moral rights, trademarks and other intellectual-property rights in the image and artwork remain with Paul Reiffer or the applicable rights owner.

11.2 You may display and resell the physical Product. You may take ordinary photographs showing it in your private interior and share those photographs for personal, non-commercial purposes, provided the artwork is not reproduced as a high-resolution, isolated or substitutable copy.

11.3 Without prior written licence, you must not scan, reproduce, print, publish, distribute, commercially photograph, advertise with, merchandise, alter, tokenise, mint as an NFT, create a digital asset from, or otherwise commercially exploit the image or Product.

11.4 Resale of the physical Product must include its genuine certificate and authenticity materials where supplied. No alteration, replacement certificate or registry change may be represented as authorised by us unless confirmed in writing.

11.5 Registry listing and authenticity materials assist identification only. We do not operate a valuation, title-verification or resale service and do not guarantee continued operation of any third-party registry.

12. Payment

12.1 Payment of the Product price and all stated delivery charges is required in cleared funds before production or dispatch unless we agree written staged terms.

12.2 We may use payment providers and conduct fraud, sanctions, address and identity checks. You must provide reasonable verification requested before acceptance or dispatch.

12.3 If payment fails, is reversed or is subject to an unjustified chargeback, we may suspend production or delivery, recover the Product where title has not passed, and recover reasonable transaction, storage, return and enforcement costs to the extent permitted by law.

12.4 You must not withhold or set off payment unless you have a legal right to do so. Title remains with us until every sum due for the order is received in cleared funds.

13. Our Right to Vary These Terms

13.1 We may revise these terms for future orders. The version supplied or made available when your order is accepted governs that Contract.

13.2 We will not retrospectively alter an accepted order. A change to its Product specification, price or other material term requires written agreement, except for a change expressly permitted by the Contract or required by law.

13.3 Headings assist navigation and do not alter interpretation. Singular words include the plural where the context requires.

14. Privacy and Data Protection

14.1 We process personal data in accordance with our current Privacy Policy at https://www.paulreiffer.com/about/privacy-data-and-cookie-policy/.

14.2 We use information to process payment, prevent fraud, administer and produce orders, maintain edition and authenticity records, arrange delivery, complete customs requirements, provide support, enforce the Contract and comply with law.

14.3 We may share necessary information with payment providers, printers, framers, carriers, installers, customs agents, tax authorities, professional advisers, insurers and authenticity registries, including recipients outside the United Kingdom where required to fulfil an international order.

14.4 Contract and service communications are not marketing. Marketing is sent only where permitted by applicable law and may be opted out of using the method stated in the message.

14.5 We use appropriate security measures but no transmission or storage system can be guaranteed completely secure. Data rights and retention are explained in the Privacy Policy and remain subject to legal conditions and exceptions.

15. Jurisdiction and Disputes

15.1 Nothing in the Contract excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, breach of statutory rights which cannot lawfully be excluded, or any other liability which applicable law does not permit us to exclude.

15.2 Subject to clause 15.1, we are not liable for loss which was not reasonably foreseeable when the Contract was made, or for loss caused by inaccurate customer information, customer or third-party handling, framing, mounting, installation, display, storage, transport, alteration or failure to follow instructions.

15.3 Products supplied to Consumers are for private use. Subject to clause 15.1, we are not liable to a Consumer for business loss, including loss of profit, revenue, opportunity, anticipated saving, goodwill or commercial use.

15.4 For a Business Customer, to the fullest extent permitted by law, all implied terms are excluded; we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss or loss of profit, revenue, business, opportunity, goodwill, anticipated saving or data; and our total aggregate liability connected with an order is limited to the amount paid for that order.

15.5 You must take reasonable steps to prevent and reduce loss. We are not liable for a failure by an independently appointed framer, installer, courier or other provider engaged directly by you.

15.6 Complaints should be sent promptly to info@paulreiffer.com with the order reference and supporting evidence. The parties will first attempt in good faith to resolve the matter directly; either party may then propose mediation or use any court or dispute process available by law.

16. General Terms & Current Version

16.1 The Contract and any non-contractual dispute are governed by the law of England and Wales.

16.2 The courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction. A Consumer resident elsewhere retains any mandatory right to bring proceedings in their home courts or rely on protections which applicable law does not permit the Contract to remove.

16.3 We may assign or subcontract our rights and obligations where this does not reduce a Consumer's rights. You may transfer ownership of the physical Product, but may assign contractual rights only with our written agreement, except for the permitted gift transfer of the guarantee under clause 8.7.

16.4 No third party may enforce the Contract under the Contracts (Rights of Third Parties) Act 1999, except a permitted gift recipient may rely on clause 8.7.

16.5 If a provision is unlawful or unenforceable, it will be modified to the minimum extent necessary or deleted, while the remaining provisions continue. A delay or failure to enforce a right is not a waiver.

16.6 Notices must be sent using the email or postal details stated in the Order Confirmation or on our website. You must keep your contact details current.

16.7 We will provide confirmation of the Contract in a durable form. You should retain the Order Confirmation, specification, invoice, certificate and these terms.

16.8 These terms were last updated on 17 August 2026 and replace earlier versions for orders accepted on or after that date.
