Awards & Qualifications

Give your work its strongest chance before it enters the room.

Professional assessment changes the way an image is read. Category, criteria and presentation matter alongside the photograph itself, while a qualification panel has to work as a complete body rather than a pile of individually capable pictures.

I bring current experience of professional judging and qualification assessment to the decisions you still have time to change. Choose a competition-focused review or a complete panel assessment, depending on what you are preparing.

Choose your route

A Judge's View is built around competition entries. Fully Qualified looks at the consistency, standard and sequencing of a complete professional qualification panel.

01

A Judge's View

Competition choices examined before your entry is committed.

A strong photograph can still be the wrong competition entry. It may sit awkwardly in the category, lose its impact at judging distance or carry a technical weakness that becomes painfully obvious at exactly the wrong moment.

I will assess the work against the published criteria and explain how a professional panel is likely to read it. The advice covers entry readiness, category fit and final presentation, including crop or title where either genuinely affects the result.

Choose the single-image review for one definite entry. The three-image selection is designed for the more familiar problem of having several possibilities and no useful way to separate hope from evidence.

WHAT YOU RECEIVE

  • Assessment against the competition rules and published criteria.
  • A direct review of impact, communication, originality and technical finish.
  • Advice on category, presentation and title where relevant.
  • A clear recommendation to submit, revise or hold the image back.

02

Fully Qualified

Your assessment panel judged as a complete submission.

A qualification panel has nowhere to hide. Changes in standard, repetition or one weak image can damage the submission long before an assessor reaches the individual photographs you feel most proud of.

I will review the complete proposed panel against the awarding body's requirements. The assessment looks at technical consistency and visual cohesion, then identifies the work carrying the submission and the images holding it back.

You will receive a recommended sequence, clear replacement priorities and a private call to work through the reasoning. The aim is to leave you with a realistic route towards assessment day and a panel you can defend with confidence.

WHAT YOU RECEIVE

  • Review of one complete proposed panel at the required image count.
  • Assessment of standard, consistency, intent and overall cohesion.
  • Recommended removals, replacements and sequence, with reasons.
  • A written panel report and a 75-minute private review call.

£650 initial panel review

£300 progress review

For returning clients after substantial replacement work.

Panels in progress are welcome if enough work exists to judge the intended level and direction. Include the official criteria and any earlier referral comments with your files. Purchase is subject to our Access Terms & Conditions(opens in new tab).

Professional preparation, with a straight answer.

Judging remains subjective and nobody can sell you a result. I can help you make better decisions before the work is locked, uploaded or placed in front of the panel.

QUESTIONS

Does this guarantee an award or qualification?

No. The final decision belongs to the judging or assessment panel. The service improves the preparation and gives you a more informed entry decision.
