I’ve visited Mono Lake in California several times, and each time I’ve seen it in a different season.
Summer wasn’t my favourite simply because of the flies that swarm around the lake as well as the number of tourists that sometimes ruin the stillness of the whole area.
I’ve always found Mono Lake to be one of the most surreal places I’ve visited; the crazy “tufa” jetting out from the perfectly calm water just seems spooky to me, but really fascinating.
This was a summer shot, with a simple lens filter to enhance how alien this area really seems to the rest of earth. “Supernatural”, indeed…
