Returning to a location to shoot it for a second time is always a challenge, especially when that location happens to be one of the most famous scenes on New Zealand’s South Island – Lake Wanaka’s lone willow tree.
Luckily, while the tree itself has stood the test of time without change, the sky and scenery surrounding it are constantly changing – not jus by season, but within minutes around sunset. Managing to capture this shot “without the birds” was a huge lucky-break, and for me, makes it a very different image to my previous release (which I also love – “alone“). So, what could be more perfect than this name, as a set of two images of that same willow tree in the lake, we have “still, alone”.
