New York City can be cold – especially so before the sun makes an appearance, stood on the edge of the Hudson River!
The sunrise this morning turned out to be spectacular, but that wasn’t what I was looking for in this shot. It’s common in Manhattan to focus on the bustling downtown area with its skyscrapers filling the air and constant chatter, but I wanted to capture the peacefulness of that brief moment before dawn.
While the city slowly got up to speed, and lights started turning on, I was stood capturing the calm of a financial district that hadn’t yet woken up. The Freedom Tower now stands complete at the center of the skyline and the reflections across the water were magical – it may have taken a few attempts, but this was the shot I wanted.
