A bucket-list of locations is something all photographers secretly have.
For many, it’s 1 or 2, for others it can be hundreds. For me, it’s a small number, but Mesa Arch in Canyonlands National Park, Utah, came pretty high up on that list and preparing for years beforehand made no difference to the challenges and surprise that this particular morning presented.
Coming face to face with a view you’ve always wished you could capture is one thing – the feeling of “if I don’t get this shot, it’s all been wasted” is quite another. Luckily, on this occasion, the sun, the clouds and the visibility all played perfectly into my shot to give me the exact composition and setup I was hoping for.
To say that initially this was a dream come true was probably a bit far. To say I’ve dreamt about this morning ever since I got to see the amazing colours this natural wonder put before my eyes, however, is most definitely true.
